Sylvester Smith wants a formal pardon from Gov. Mike Easley, who sent him to prison as the Brunswick County District Attorney in 1984.
This could never be more appropriate than it is. Who better to pardon him than the slime that railroaded him into prison to start with?
But every time I tell them I'm a felon, it sheds a different light on me.
So don't tell them you're a felon, fool. You aren't one, remember? I know after 20 years in prison it's hard to see yourself as anytrhing else. But the fact is You are NOT a felon. You're a victim.

"He would also be allowed to apply to the N.C. Industrial Commission to receive compensation from the state -- as much as $400,000 -- for the time he spent in prison."
Only $400k for TWENTY YEARS???? I think $40MILLION would be more appropriate. 20 years labeled as a sex offender in prison? I'm sure he went thru more then a few beatings.
As for this Governor he better do it and pardon him NOW. I could care less about his "egg on the face". Do the right thing or have NO CREDIBILTY in the opinion of many.

I agree. I also think he needs to sue the Governor for civil damages in a wrongful prosecution case too. Make the Governor have to pay for his mistake, and garner the Governor's salary.
