"Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee announced Sunday that registered sex offender David Lee Onstott has been charged with premeditated first-degree murder in the slaying of Sarah Michelle Lunde, 13.
Onstott, 36, arrived at Sarah's Ruskin home on April 10 between midnight and 5 a.m. looking for Sarah's mother, who was not there. Sarah invited him into the house where a confrontation ensued. Onstott placed a choke hold on the girl, rendering her unconscious and causing her death, according to the charging document. Onstott dumped the body in a fish farm pond about a half-mile mile south of the girl's home and he made efforts to conceal his crime.
Results of an autopsy are pending.
Onstott, who is being held without bond, gave detectives a statement late Saturday night.
There will be no other information released at this time."
