Bryan Mitchell Jones, 49, has been on a US Federal Bureau of Investigation wanted list since July 1994, when he was convicted of sexually abusing his two daughters, both under the age of 12, in Eugene, Oregon.

He was on the FBI's wanted listed for nearly 11 years. I'll be very interested in what sentences are handed down.

for someone who had the means to flee the country, he sure made a bad selection for a new home. A US territory? there are many other places without an extradition agreement he could have gone to.
Glad to see he was so stupid and is coming home to face the choir

Really? How'd that happen? Only RSO's sexually abuse children. Parents don't do such things.

Actually Mr. Jones should get on his knees and do the “Pope” kiss when his plane touches down on Amerikan soil. In the Philippines incest is a crime punishable by execution. Last year two men were executed for sexually assaulting daughters and nieces. No games, no parole, no registry, and no g.p.s., just execution.

Works for me. Now THAT would put a serious dent in sexual abuse in America.

Serious dent? Heck, it would make it easier to compute the reoffense rate.....hmmm that would be zero percent? Now that works for me.

I thought you, HP, poet, dad and maybe a few others were eluding to the fact that stiffer punishments are leading to more child murders and an escalation in the violence of the acts. Was I reading too much into it?

Not sure what you're alluding to. My position is that as long as parents are responsible for 7 out of 10 cases of sexual abuse, concentrating on putting the people responsible for the other three in prison for life, executing them, or now, making them wear GPS bracelets the rest of their life, then we are never going to see the end of sexual abuse. You saw DP1's posts about the cop and his 9 years of raping his daughters. She called it 'belated incest', like it was nothing worse than slapping one of them. Thing is, that's the view of society. Incest is a dirty little secret. Nobody wants to talk about it. Nobody wants to get tough about it. For some reason people think it's no big deal to molest your own kid, but you should be castrated for molesting your neighbor's kid. Incest carries the lowest penalties of all sex offenses. In other countries, we see that it is the opposite.
Clear?

Just for the record you misunderstood my comments. To put things into context, we were talking about the Judge letting him out on a ROR and you were saying that it must have been because he was a cop. My argument was that RORing incest cases was routine business....it's not my personal opinion about how I feel about incest or cops. The fact that it was belated is a significant factor when deciding if the Def is a risk to the public. If he was currently placing his family in danger maybe the Judge would have thought otherwise. The issue once again was ROR not about the crime. Stating that it is my experience that incest cases regularly get ROR'd has nothing to do with MY values. But, yes you are right about how the system views incest in general. Personally, I think it's the worst type of sex crime because of the long lasting effects on the victim.

This man was my step-father. He abused three of my sisters. He was convicted on two counts of abuse to my youngest sister. He was supposed to go on trial for my second youngest sister - 7 counts, but as we know he fled. My oldest sister was also abused, but no charges have ever been addressed.

We were supposed to have sentencing on Tuesday, 5/10 but he pulled a few stall tactics. It's tentatively been rescheduled for 5/25. We found out some other bad news...Oregon no longer increases a sentence for criminals who run. They used to double the sentence, but that law recently changed. He now is looking at no more than 5 years (for each count) and with parole - who knows? We will be going to trial for the other 7 counts to try and get more time.

It was strange to log onto this site and see people conversing about our family tragedy. Yes, we would like to see him punished and a few days with the "general prison population" would not make any of us unhappy. I think I'm most sad though about the 11 years he's been on the run and able to hurt other children. No matter the outcome we wil get some sore of closure, but what about the other children he must have victimized? Will they ever receive the closure?

Welcome to this forum AKlein. I hope you didn't feel offended when you found this thread.

I hope all goes smooth on the 25th in Court. Good luck and God bless your family as closure finally becomes a reality.
