Honestly, I do believe that in such cases of repeated abuse with such incontravertible (sic) evidence, why would the death penalty be inappropriate?

The only thing that would keep my from executing him (if I was dictator!) would be my concern that his son would suffer more knowing that his father was executed for crimes against himself. But looking at is purely from the perspective of the monstrousity of the crimes, I would find execution to be appropriate.

This kid is going to have some serious problems. First is there a mother in the scene at all? Any family to support him? Or are they all supporting the father?

I agree lock him up forever. Bad enough doing it yourself but passing him around like a sex toy this guy deserves no mercy.

Yes, by all means lock him up. My only reservation with that is that I don't think that it is worth the money to keep him alive. But then I do have my reservations about putting him to death, too. The outraged side of me says, "why should we spend even a cent to keep this piece of garbage alive"? The other side of me says, "Well, this piece of garbage, no matter how vile, is still the kid's father. Maybe we should keep him alive just for the kid's sake, if only so that the kid could confront a living body rather than be left with only a headstone on which to vent his rage. And deep down, the kid probably does have some love for his dad."

Indeed, as Silverthorne has questioned, where is the kid's mom? Where are the adults who gave one thought to this child, who MUST have seen something or known something? Is this child just a piece of garbage to be used and then thrown out as readily as I would throw out his father?

The monstrosity of this is beyond belief. I still can't get over my disgust for the whole human race when I read stories like this and reflect upon people like my ex who would, I am convinced, allow their sexual impulses to lead them to this kind of behavior. When you read my posts and are repulsed by my pessimism and cynicism, please remember that I loved this man with all my heart. He was EVERYTHING to me. He was family, he was best friend. Now that I realize that he was just an opportunist waiting for a chance to use a vulnerable young person, I feel that that the whole foundation upon which I built my reason for living is a joke. That's just the way it is for me. I know I am not objective. How could I be?

I wonder how many men (I'll pick on the men) impregnate a "wife" or a "girlfriend" with the idea that in a few years down the road that child will be at their mercy? I recently read a very disturbing piece of "humor" entitled "consumer report - finding a girlfriend". This was not a part of a girl-lover site, this was listed under a humor site. It suggested that a man should turn to the "baby factory" to produce a "model" that would be ready for girlfriend status in "14 to 16 years, depending on the laws in your state." The site went on to qualify that bit of wisdom, but still. As I've said before, sometimes humor tells the truths that no one will risk saying with a straight face.

Good questions, Silverthorne. This is in my state (not that I'm proud that it happened here) - I read about it in the Richmond print paper and then found it online. I didn't see any details that answer the questions you asked. I'll see if I can find out more.

hey, that link did not work. i feel your pain on this one though. With a country as powerful and free as this one that promotes liberty and personal rights for everyone, how these types of things happen is way beyond my comprehension as a parent. we are supposed to be PROTECTING our kids, not pimping them out. Why is this not as big a problem in other countries without all these rights and liberties we have. It seems like the US and UK have a substantially greater problem with this than the rest of the world. Why is that?

I didn't find out the answers to any of Silverthorne's questions, but I did find this article, which has additional information.

This article names him ,I'm amazed, since that identifies his son ,the victim.Dosen't everyone see that?In this country anything that would identify the victim is illegal.
