The study showed about 23 percent of ninth-grade girls, typically 13 to 14 years old, had sex before receiving abstinence education. After taking the course, 29 percent of the girls in the same group said they had had sex.
What are they doing here? They're furthering sexual activity by minors. Isn't that against the law?
Oh, wait. Something's wrong with the data. Kids don't have sex, don't want to have sex, don't know what sex is....
Boys in the tenth grade, about 14 to 15 years old, showed a more marked increase, from 24 percent to 39 percent, after receiving abstinence education.
Wonder who they're doing it with? If more boys are having sex than girls, evidently the girls have multiple partners. Which happens to agree with every Youth Risk Behavior Survey the CDC has ever done.
But wait. There's that flawed data again. Kids just don't DO these things.

i guess thats why some lawmakers in Indiana are simply seeking to make sexual activity by those under 18, a "C" felony. maybe they think that by making it illegal, that will stop it. I bet it only clogs up the legal system even worse

Ayn Rand said there's a limited number of criminals so when the government needs more, laws are passed to create them. Sounds like she knew what she was talking about:-)

I'm a big Ayn Rand fan. Atlas Shrugged is one of my favorite books and I have six or seven other books by her on my shelf.

This is all a bunch of crap. The only thing that increased is their willingness to admit to doing what they were doing in the first place. Geez, how ridiculous. Sounds like another dull day in the newsroom to me. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

I knew there was a reason why I liked you;-))
I tried to get my daughter's school to use "Atlas Shrugged" in Lit classes, along with "Brave New World", "1984" or "Animal Farm" and "Farenheit 451". Nope. Too controversial and politically incorrect. Better to stick to "Anne of Green Gables", about a brother and sister living together their entire celibate lives and adopting a little 11 year-old orphan girl.

A similar law creating a new offence(one of more than a 1000 new criminal offences created by new labour since they came to power)of "sexual activity between Children" is being enacted here. This will brand experimenting Children as "SEXUAL OFFENDERS!!!".
In this country very large numbers of underage girls are officially placed on contraception,so society and the authorities first make provision foe something to happen, then scream "MONSTERS!!!!,PAEDOPHILES!!!",when it does. How honest is that?
If theres that many underage girls having sex, what's the use or point of anyone knowing theres a man in the area(perhaps living with his family and Children, who will also greatly suffer)whose offence was to have "consensual" sex with an underage girl?Even if he's an older man,let alone a teenage "Romeo",whose offence was only a consensual touching game at a party?
The point is "Megan's" law is being used as a punishment(despite the legal claim it is not punitive),in an attempt to deter "Romeo and Juliets",the abstinence propaganda hold it up as something that can happen if they have sex.
"Megan's" law is used, punitively and cruelly, as a latterday version of the pillory or Scarlet letter against experimenting teenagers, and victimless acts between consenting adults(the two who got the Texas "SODOMY!!!"law invalidated(though it remains on statute, are posted on the web),in support of an old testament sexual "morality" promulgated by the religious right, and it's new American Ayatollahs, who increasingly dominate your country.

Agreed Orolan. In this day of liberal socialist schools the thought of rugged individualism or "working for a living and keeping your money" is foriegn to the "raise the taxes" establishment.

when you say "American Ayatollahs", how come visions of Jerry Faldwell, Pat Robertson, James Dobson and others come to mind?

Funny that I was just reading at parade.com the list of the ten worst dictators currently in power. Civil rights abuses, religious oppression (passing laws based on one religion is the same as oppressing other religions), out-of-control police powers, 'secret' tribunals, indefinite incarcerations for not 'agreeing' with the dictator's views........
I was shocked that Dubya didn't make the list.
