I grew up near that town. As a matter of fact, the Motel in question is right next to Belmont Lake State Park where I spent a lot of time as a kid during summer breaks. Either these RSO Clusters don't have the 1,000 foot rule or the Parole Officers in Babylon are idiots. Rest assured the first RSO never would have resided there if it was up to me. There are thousands of kids all over that park. This is the most ridiculous story I've ever heard. Why are they whining about clusters instead of yelling about the safety of the kids at the park? HELLO!
As crowded as it is on Long Island it must be a nightmare to place RSOs. Something has to give with the proximity rules and lack of housing, i.e. halfway houses. I had a case that I transfered to Chinatown in NY. When he was here he whined about Florida's strict rules. I warned him about going back home, but he insisted. There isn't a week that goes by that he isn't calling or emailing me whining about the supervision in NY. What can I possibly say? It's a nightmare. Where can you go in New York City and not be within 1,000 feet of something?

This is hilarious. 832 RSO's in that county and they latch on to 4 of them at a motel and consider it a crisis of nuclear proportions.
Some of you know that street-racing is one of my passions. On Long Island they arrest an average of 150 people every Friday and Saturday night for street racing. 300 per weekend. Mom and Dad don't care if Cindy takes her Acura RSX racing every weekend as long as the homeless RSO's aren't anywhere near where the racing is, because the RSO might hurt her.

"Given the high rate of recidivism among sex offenders, some residents and child protection advocates say it's not enough to alert communities of a sex offender in their town."
Anyone have time to look up the recidivism rate in that state? They probably post it on the DOC website or something?
I'd guess around 5-10%?
