its funny, they are worried someone might vandalize thier house. But as the gov. would have us to believe these things dont happen.
its also funny that they dont know where this RSO and probably hundreds of others are living currently. so at the end of the day, what good is it doing?

are they now for or against the registry since they now know what its like being associated with an rso? Why do they have fears of being harmed?Id also like to know if they supported the registry before.

I don't know if it's a huge flaw

Looks like a pretty gaping "flaw" to me. 11 years ago, and nobody knows how to fix it.

11 years to update?

Worse than that. 11 years and they claim they can't do anything about it because they don't have a new address. Talk about showing their ignorance. How about substituting two simple words for an address:
ABSCONDED REGISTRATION

I think its funny they're worried they might be vandalized. I thought stuff like that didn't happen.

As for this family I'd suggest they sue the state for emotional distress. Ask for $50m and work your way down from that.

Seems these states only decide to do the right thing when they get either bad publicity or sued.

It is comical that they suddenly fear for their safety. Like you said, this sort of thing doesn't happen;-))

It's not a question of whether it happens; it's a question of whether it's prevelant. There will always be people out there that harrass and attack those who they don't like, including those who've committed sex crimes. Even before there were public registries, there were people who found out about sex offenders and harrassed and attacked them. Have a higher percentage of them faced this since the public registries became accessible? I don't know. And if the prevelance has increased, how much of it is due to the public registries and how much is due to increased media focus on sex crimes and sex offenders? And how much can be simply attributed to the increased ease of distributing information in the Internet age?

As for this family I'd suggest they sue the state for emotional distress.

Would that work? If I were them, I'd go to the media (seems they did that), get a lawyer to file some sort of injunction to remove my address and print up a huge sign on a tall stake in my yard that said no sex offender lives here, the government has the old address for an offender posted and won't fix it and include contact information so others can make themselves heard.

As I've said before .How mnay people are there who are living with their Children at posted addresses ,from which an offender has fled, without realising it,many thousands of posted offenders also have their Children living with them at the address.
So how many Children is that in total at addresses posted on the sex offender sites. How long till some of them burn in consequence. On this side of the atlantic several Children have been killed in vigilante and arson attacks aimed at sex offenders. How long til Children burn in America?.
If it isn't possible to delete the address posting without a new address from the offender(who isn't neccessarily still alive,or may have left the country),then there's no hope given the growing army of fugitive offenders now wandering America(how many will have turned up in this country?).
Yet again I'm pretty amazed, this would immediately lead to a phenomenal outcry here.
What do the courts say about this,Don't this couple have a case?
