Actually the AOC in Alabama has been 16 since at least 1990 though my SOA class repeatedly beat it into my head it was age 18 not 16. At any rate that article was wrong. It is actually a class C felony for failure to register, not a class A misdemeanor. Then again most people in Alabama including the establishment are ignorant of their own state laws. How sad... Now, I agree that many who work for the state are ignorant of the laws they are supposed to uphold. Here in Indiana, many PO's are unaware of the latest requirements to register.
