It took 5 times to finally get life? This guy had 4 convictions for violent assaults, 3 of them sexual assaults. I just don’t get it. people who commit lesser, non violent offenses get harsh sentences and guys like this get continual slaps on the wrist. Its just like the videotape case. That guy gets pilloried on a registry site for videotaping a consensual sex act while this violent guy in this case was free to roam looking for his next victim. Doesn’t make sense, does it?

In the latest case, Pereau was accused of sexually abusing a 9-year-old girl three times in her mother's home between May and September 2003. This was Pereau's fifth conviction for a sexual offense.
And what was he doing in the victim's home? Was he her boyfriend? I don't get how moms with kids can date sex offenders, now that makes no sense.

I just don't get it. Why does the system let guys like this out again and again and clamp down hard on lesser offenders. It's hard not to come to the conclusion that they are trying to pad the reoffense stats by intentionally releasing some of the most dangerous guys. Sometimes it seems so willy nilly to me. There are guys with a single victim and single offense committed as SVP's and guys with multiple victims over several years who are out in the community.

I couldnt agree more with any one statement...no rhyme or reason for something like this.....dont waste your breath on me...I would use this case as an example and send it to any and everyone who is in a position of power... just my 2 cents..

While I favor treatment for the first offense a second offense should be an automatic life sentence. ESPECIALLY if they had treatment once.
