The group should use it's scare tatics to alert people to ex-felons living in the area too. I bet that would go over real well. I wonder how many people would start calling for an online felon registry too. Florida has a start with their career felon registry but it doesn't go nearly far enough since it only lists career felons. Why not list all the felons online since Florida requires them to register? If the group is using scare tactics to get people to use their service, then I seriously doubt that they are non-profit. The Arizonz State Attorney General should be investigating this company, as well as, the Federal Trade Commission. I wonder how many complaints the Better Business Bureau has received about this groups tactics? --Navigatr1 CopWatch.com News Moderator Forum Home | Top of Thread | Jump To Parent (138133) In order to post a message to a new thread or reply to existing messages you must be logged in. OLYMPIA, Wash. -- A telemarketing company is trying to sell Washington residents lists of registered sex offenders, police say, even though the lists are available for free.
Residents of Mason, Thurston, Grays Harbor, Kitsap, Pierce, King, Whatcom, and Lewis counties have received automated calls warning that a sex predator has moved into their neighborhood and offering to sell a list of sex offenders living in their ZIP code.

Adam identified the company as United States Protection and Care Society, based in California.

"It's a scam coming out of California," he said.

"It's clearly a violation of the Consumer Protection Act because this information is free," she said.
Takahashi said people who receive the calls can report them to the Attorney General's Office at 800-551-4636.
