Awesome article about Mrs. Kanka 10 years after her daughter was raped and killed.

Mrs. Kanka believes the law could be stronger if it were uniformly enforced nationwide. Currently, the law is enforced differently in each state, with some laws tougher than others. Mrs. Kanka said she was horrified to learn that pedophiles often research which states have the weaker laws, and then advertise those areas as good places to move to.

"Pedophiles and rapists don't like me much," she said.

She wants New Jersey's Megan's Law re-examined to toughen its risk assessment requirements, guidelines which determine if a sex offender's name is made public. Mrs. Kanka also is pushing for an advisory board that would oversee the state's Internet registry site.

Awesome. Maybe with her efforts more sex offender listings will become visable on the internet. I'm glad see sees how some of the laws need to be toughened up.

See an abbreviation or acronym, but don't know what it stands for? Consult the Glossary.
