A former teacher and police officer from California convicted of participating in a child pornography ring has been sentenced to more than 30 years in federal prison.

Adam J. Brown, 32, was sentenced Friday to 30 years and five months in prison for traveling across state lines to have sex with a person younger than 12 and for producing child pornography, according to the U.S. attorney's office.

A former Riverside police officer convicted in Wisconsin for his role in a widespread child-sex and pornography ring has been brought back to Riverside to answer charges that he also repeatedly sexually assaulted four boys here.

Adam James Brown, 32, was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside about 5 p.m. Thursday and is being held without bail, said Ingrid Wyatt, spokeswoman for the Riverside County district attorney's office.

Prosecutors filed an arrest warrant against Brown 18 months ago, charging him with 65 felonies, Wyatt said.

Former Riverside police Officer Adam James Brown appeared in Riverside County Superior Court for the first time Thursday, 18 months after prosecutors charged him with dozens of counts of sexually assaulting four young boys.

Brown, 32, already has been convicted in federal court in Wisconsin for his role in a child-sex and pornography ring and sentenced to 30 years in federal prison.

Riverside County prosecutors had been waiting for that case to be resolved so Brown could be brought back to California.

RIVERSIDE -- A former Riverside police officer who is charged with sexually assaulting four boys has rejected a plea agreement that could have given him a sentence of 100 years or more in prison.

Adam James Brown's attorney announced in a hearing Friday that his client had turned down the plea after indicating earlier this week he would agree to plead guilty in the case.

A former school resource officer and volunteer wrestling coach at Ramona High School, Brown, 32, faces 65 felony counts alleging he sexually assaulted the boys over four years.

Relatives of a boy sexually assaulted by former Riverside Police Officer Adam James Brown lashed out at his sentencing Friday, saying Brown violated their trust and robbed the boy of his innocence.

"What Adam Brown did to me at age 10 and beyond was totally selfish and for his own sick gratification," one of Brown's victims said in a statement read by his older brother.

Former Riverside police Officer Adam James Brown was sentenced to 495 years to life on Friday for sexually assaulting four boys, as a victim and his mother lashed out, calling Brown an "animal" who put his sick needs first.

"I hate you, Adam Brown," one of Brown's victims wrote in a statement read in court by his older brother. "You stole my childhood and a bit of my life and innocence. You took my life away."

Brown, 33, did not apologize for his crimes and kept his back to the victim and the victim's family, who sat in the back two rows of the Riverside courtroom. Brown had known the boy and his family for years and began abusing the boy shortly after the boy's father's death.
