"In Congress last month, a bill was introduced specifying ecoterrorism as a federal crime and providing stiff penalties for anyone who "intentionally damages the property of another with the intent to influence the public with regard to conduct the offender considers harmful to the environment...The legislation would increase penalties and punish those who assist or finance such acts. It also would create a "terrorist registry" where a photo and other personal information about anybody found guilty under the law would be posted on a website for at least three years - similar to registries of sex offenders."
This is the first I've heard of a proposed registry for such crimes. Thoughts?

Seems to me that once this registry is in place, there are others that will be in place. One day, everyone in the country could be on some sort of "registry"

Maybe they'll begin by putting up an eco-terrorist registry list with a few who did serious damage to life and limb through their eco-terroristic acts--and then, like Megan's Law, they'll eventually start adding on such criminals as kids who climb trees without regard for the tree's stature as a living entity.
It's a likely pattern to follow--similar to one already in progress.
