File this one under ironic along with this story which I posted last month - Cops: Man steals ID of sex offender.

> A Piqua man was arrested Friday after a burglar broke into his home and
> stumbled upon a metal box full of illicit photos of young girls, including the
> thief's 4-year-old sister.

Now those involved in child porn not only have to watch their backs when surfing the web, they have to worry what they have hidden away in their own homes!

> The 20-year-old originally tried to convince another man in the building to
> phone police so as to protect himself, according to Potter. Eventually,
> however, the burglar turned himself in, Potter said.

I wonder what charges will be filed against him and if his good deed will be taken into consideration. I certainly hope it will be. But I can't help but wonder whether the man would have reported what he found if one of the pictures wasn't of his 4 year old daughter.

Who could ever imagine that would happen? I guess there is a lesson in there somewhere but I am not sure which one it was for....the burglar or the pedo.....I guess both:)

I think the burglar should get off .He gave himself up to the police and through his actions he probably has saved other children from being molested. Good! for him.

Well if he didnt find pics nothing changed. Its nice his conscious made him turn himself in. The real question is would he have done that if he found NO pics or even pics that didnt include a relative.

Nope, as far as I'm concerned lock him up too.

Maybe he would not have turned himself in, if the pictures were of children he did not know. He could have taken the law into his own hands and that would have been worse on the offender. I still think he did the correct thing.

If the burglar gets no charges filed on him because of his "good deed" in this case, maybe it could give future burglars precedent to set up others with child porno while stealing from their residence. It'd be a way to get revenge on someone the burglar detests or has a grudge towards. They'd get the spoils of the "enemy" and also lessen the opportunity of being charged for their own crime.

Stranger things have happened!

Great point.
