CHICAGO -- Unit 5's Carol Marin learned that the city of Chicago has spent nearly $100 million over a five-year period to settle lawsuits against Chicago police officers.

In January, LaFonso Rollins received a $9 million settlement after he spent 11 years in prison for a crime that DNA eventually proved that he didn't commit.

"It's demoralizing. We are throwing money away that shouldn't be spent like that," 18th Ward Alderman Thomas Murphy said.
