Tacoma detective single-handedly polices city’s released offenders

KRIS SHERMAN; The News Tribune

Sex offenders know Tacoma police detective Steve Holmes won’t burst in shouting “Police!” and slap handcuffs on them.

That’s not his style.

And it isn’t his job.

The self-described burly detective with the high voice and the baby face has a much more difficult task.

Holmes’ duty is keeping track of all 1,138 registered sex offenders in the city. He’s the only officer assigned to the job.

Great article, and it is easy to respect and admire this guy's style and effort.
