(Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) – The Ontario Provincial Police, Professional Standards Bureau has charged First Nations Constable Bradley Stephen Syrette of the Batchewana First Nations Police Service with one count of sexual assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The charge stems from an investigation into an incident in the late 1980s in which a member of the public complained they were sexually assaulted by an off-duty officer.

FRESNO, Calif. - A former Fresno County sheriff's deputy pleaded guilty to possessing at least 600 images of child pornography.

Neil Edmiston, 34, entered the plea Monday in federal court here, hoping the admission would get him a reduced prison sentence.

Prosecutor Jonathan Conklin recommended a three-year prison term as part of the plea deal, but a federal judge can sentence Edmiston to up to 10 years.

HILLSBOROUGH -- A judge fined Billy Apple $64,000 Wednesday in Orange County Superior Court after Apple pleaded guilty to all the indecent liberty and secretly peeping charges lodged against him for secretly videotaping girls and women undressing in his tanning salon.

Apple, a former police officer in Chapel Hill and Durham who also was a girl's softball coach, owned A Day at the Beach tanning salon in Hillsborough. He used small air purifiers that had tiny cameras inside of them to videotape his customers as they undressed to use the tanning beds.

Apple entered into a plea agreement that specified he was to go on probation for five years and have to register as a sex offender. The plea agreement did not require Apple to spend any time in jail or prison.

HILLSBOROUGH -- The N.C. Court of Appeals is sending Billy Apple, who pleaded guilty to secretly videotaping girls and women undressing in his tanning salon, back to Orange County Superior Court to be resentenced.

His attorney, Barry Winston, hopes that during the resentencing hearing, a $64,000 fine that was imposed on Apple the first time he was sentenced will be reduced.

"I hope a sentence will be imposed that he can actually comply with," Winston said. "I don't know anybody other than Donald Trump that could have."

A POLICEMAN swore under oath yesterday that he was not a serial rapist and sex offender.

Dean Stewart, 35, is alleged to have attacked nine women in Ayrshire over six years, but he told a jury there was no truth at all in any of the allegations.

Stewart insisted at the High Court in Glasgow that he had no idea why women had made claims against him.

The Strathclyde Police constable denies a total of 13 charges, three of rape and ten of indecent assault, between 1998 and 2004, while he served in stations in Kilbirnie, Saltcoats and Irvine.

His counsel, Edgar Prais, QC, put it to Stewart that allegations had been made against him by nine women. Mr Prais asked: "Is there any truth at all in any of the allegations?"

Stewart replied: "None at all."

A SECURITY guard who raped a lesbian in his bothy on a building site has lost an appeal against his conviction.

Kenneth Blyth tried to have his conviction overturned by arguing that the jury in the case should have considered the idea that he may have "honestly believed" that his victim had consented to sex.

Blyth was sentenced to four years and nine months in prison after being found guilty of attacking his 34-year-old victim after meeting her in a pub in the Dalry area of the Capital.

A COURT sat in a church hall to listen to a woman being cross-examined over claims that a police officer sexually assaulted her, it was revealed yesterday.

Because the woman, 42, was too unwell to travel to the High Court in Glasgow, a decision was made to move the court to Irvine, Ayrshire, without the jury.

A WOMAN yesterday told a court how a policeman who had called at her home over a series of nuisance telephone calls returned the following morning to rape her.

Dean Stewart, 35, a constable with Strathclyde Police, faces a total of 13 charges, three of them for rape and ten of indecent assault.

A POLICEMAN who said he was going out of his station to buy breakfast was caught on CCTV approaching the home of a woman he allegedly raped, a jury heard yesterday.

PC Dean Stewart had attended the flat on official business the previous day when the woman, described as having learning difficulties, was wearing only a short nightdress.

ALBUQUERQUE (AP) - A former Albuquerque Police Department detective has been indicted on charges of criminal sexual penetration and kidnapping.

Timothy Chavez was arrested in May and placed on paid leave after being accused of raping a 14-year-old girl.

He was fired in July following an internal affairs investigation.

A former prison worker could end up behind bars. Christine Brown used to work in food service at the Stanley Prison. She's accused of having sexual contact with an inmate. The inmate also worked in food service.

A woman working in food service at the Stanley Prison faces up to 80 years in prison for repeatedly having sex with an inmate.

Christine D. Brown, 45, 400 Pumphouse Road, No. 52, Chippewa Falls is accused in Chippewa County Court of two felony counts of second-degree sexual assault by correctional staff. A criminal complaint said Brown had sex with a 41-year-old inmate between July 1 and Dec. 31, 2004 and between Jan. 1 and June 13, 2005.

JOLIET — The head of Will County's juvenile jail abruptly resigned this week, citing personal problems.

But official sources — who did not want to be identified — say Mark Kassel quit after authorities discovered he is involved in an Internet porn site for foot fetishists, www.ohmyhose.com .

Kassel gave his resignation to Will County Chief Judge Stephen White, the official in charge of the River Valley Justice Center, the facility housing the jail.

The employment office at some government agencies has been closed to sexual offenders, but a law passed earlier this year continues to allow them to work for the public school system.

Sexual offenders cannot work in a public library, at the hospital, at the Department of Youth Affairs or at the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, states a law written by Sen. Larry Kasperbauer, R-Dededo. Those restrictions apply to sexual offenders who work for contractors as well.

School jobs still are an option for sexual offenders -- just not on a school campus, the law states.

School officials in 2002 allowed former truant officer and registered sex offender Kenneth Palomo to remain on the school system payroll, but in a new job that has no direct contact with children.

SPOKANE — A man with several convictions for molesting teenage boys says he'll continue to do so, and possibly will kill someone, if he's not locked up for good.

Last week Richard D. Frye, 47, agreed with Jennifer Karol, a state assistant attorney general who recommended that he be held indefinitely as a "sexually violent predator."

In 1979, Frye was 20 when he pleaded guilty to simple assault for molesting a 14-year-old Spokane boy.

That same year, after a brief marriage ended in an annulment, Frye joined the Navy. A court-martial convicted him in 1982 of sodomy and attempted sodomy for raping a 19-year-old sailor at knifepoint in the Philippines.

OSSINING — State police and FBI agents arrested a former Ossining police officer on child pornography charges at his Dutchess County home.

William P. Costa, 58, of Greenhaven Road, Poughquag, was charged Friday with 28 felony counts related to possessing and disseminating child pornography.

Costa retired from the Ossining village Police Department on Sept. 4, 2004, after nearly 31 years as a patrol officer.

Abbotsford Police are investigating allegations of sexual assault lodged against a former Abbotsford RCMP officer.

Const. Casey Vinet confirmed yesterday the Abbotsford Police are investigating historical allegations of sexual assault that date back to the 1980s, when the officer was posted with the Abbotsford RCMP.

Police are not confirming the man's name or the detachment he is now working with, but RCMP in Ontario say they have suspended an officer with pay as a result of the Abbotsford Police investigation.

Sexual offender Peter J. Cruz isn't allowed to use or carry a firearm, according to Guam and federal law, but that has not stopped him from holding a government job as a security guard at the island's prison -- a job that requires him to be able to carry a gun.

He's been there more than 10 years.

Cruz, 46, does not have to carry a gun for his current assignment, monitoring prisoners who work outside the prison fence, but his job description as an "armed security guard" requires that he be able to use and carry one, said Department of Corrections acting Director Robert Camacho.

Much has been said about the problems surrounding Guam's Sex Offender Registry, including the blame game surrounding who's really in charge of updating it. But with all the talk, what's being done to actually correct the apparent deficiencies?

Department of Corrections acting director Bob Camacho is conducting an internal affairs investigation to find out how one of his employees managed to stay on board, despite being convicted of first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct as a first-degree felony. Peter J. Cruz is listed on the Sex Offender Registry as a Level "1" Sex Offender - a person convicted of a sexually violent offense. His victim was 14 years old.

HAMMOND | A third officer left the police force this week as Chief Brian Miller struggled to assure the public that the lewd activity involved only isolated incidents.

Officer William Lewter, a seven-year veteran of the force, resigned for personal reasons Monday, according to a letter that was made public Thursday by the Board of Public Works and Safety.

Police have a policy of not commenting on internal investigations, but sources said Lewter was leaving the force for failing to report that he witnessed sexually lewd activity in the police station that was captured on internal video.

A Seattle police officer called to a fight between a man and a woman made no arrests and took no report, instead quitting his shift early to take the woman involved to his place for sex.

After an investigation prompted by the woman's fiancé, Officer Lance Basney was suspended for 30 days without pay. But this week, Basney succeeded in appealing that discipline before the city's Public Safety Civil Service Commission; his punishment was reduced to five days.

Still, an attorney for the Police Department was pleased, saying the finding supports the department's position that even off-duty conduct matters.

Hiers "Spotted" Across North America

The public has been keeping their eyes peeled for Daniel Hiers, who was accused of murdering his wife, Ludimila in March 2005 and molesting a young girl months earlier. Law enforcement officers say they have received calls from people who have claimed to see Hiers in Massachusetss, North Carolina, New York and even Canada. Shortly after he first appeared on AMW, a tipster told cops that they had spotted Hiers in Toronto, but a search was inconclusive.

Allegations Of Molestation

According to the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office, Hiers had agreed to turn himself in on March 15, 2005 after warrants were signed for his arrest, charging him with criminal sexual misconduct with a minor and committing a lewd act with a minor. It would be the second arrest for Hiers in the same case and this time, the charges were more serious.

Former Crowley police officer Jack Edward Davis pleaded guilty to one count of sexual performance by a child, one of two charges on which he was indicted last year.

Davis will now have to register as a child sex offender, according to Tarrant County prosecutor Rebecca McIntire. He faces 2-10 years in the state penitentiary for the third-degree felony charge.

Davis, 47, was indicted Dec. 3, 2004, for indecent exposure. About two weeks later, he was indicted for sexual performance by a child.

Fresno County sheriff's Sgt. Ron Vaughn Jr. turned himself in to federal agents Thursday and was arrested on suspicion of possession of child pornography.

Last week, investigators found 50 pornographic images and 20 pornographic movie files — involving children, some as young as 4 years old — on a computer at his photography studio in Clovis, according to an arrest warrant.

Investigators, including federal agents and a sheriff's detective, said in the warrant affidavit that they believe the images and videos were obtained from the Internet.

A judge on Tuesday sentenced former Austin police officer Jason Lockaby to three months in a state jail for touching the breasts of two women in his custody and pressuring another woman to show him her breasts to avoid legal trouble.

Lockaby, who is free on bond and will begin serving his sentence in January, did not say anything during the short sentencing hearing and declined to comment outside of State District Judge Jon Wisser's courtroom. His lawyer, Dan Dworin of Austin, also declined to comment.

Kay Quall was 14 when she learned never to trust a cop.

She was on a date when the car ran out of gas. King County sheriff's Deputy Denny Gulla offered Quall and her boyfriend a ride home. Gulla dropped the young man off first. Then, Quall says, he got in the back seat of his patrol car with her, slid his hand under her shirt and thrust his tongue into her mouth.

Quall is 35 now. She is one of three women who say they still carry memories from their encounters with Gulla when each was 14. One of the others is brain-damaged now from an apparent suicide attempt and the third is in jail, struggling with her own demons. But one fact binds them all:

Denny Gulla is still on patrol with a badge and a gun.

SUTHERLIN: A Douglas County Sheriff's Office employee was arrested Thursday for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend at a Nonpareil Road address.

Stanley Todd McKnight, an animal control officer and 31-year-old Sutherlin resident, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree rape, first-degree burglary, fourth-degree assault and criminal trespass while in possession of a firearm. He is lodged in the Douglas County Jail.

The Douglas County sheriff's deputy who was arrested Thursday on suspicion of rape will be placed on administrative leave and is being held on almost $1 million bail.

Stanley "Todd" McKnight, 31, of Roseburg, allegedly assaulted his girlfriend Thursday morning, and was arrested Thursday night at about 11 p.m., according to an Oregon State Police press release. OSP is leading the investigation.

The FBI has opened a preliminary investigation into whether King County Sheriff's Deputy Denny Gulla committed a civil rights violation when he pulled over the husband of his lover on a bogus traffic stop and threatened to kill him.

Gulla was the focus of a Seattle Post-Intelligencer article Tuesday that revealed many complaints during his 23-year career, including accusations of roughing up a prisoner, making a pass at a high school senior, videotaping a gang beating he could have prevented, and allegedly molesting three 14-year-old girls.

The article also told the story of Mike Kelly, who was driving through the Pierce County town of Buckley in January 2004 when Gulla, who was having an affair with Kelly's wife, pulled him over without having a legal reason to do so.

Two police officers were arraigned on felony sex abuse and other charges on Monday after they allegedly mistreated a woman whose car they pulled over in Brooklyn.

Bail was set at $10,000 for officers Charles McGeean, 37, and Fernand Clerge, 38, who face a maximum sentence of two and one-third to seven years in prison if convicted of sex abuse, sodomy and official misconduct charges.

The officers allegedly stopped the 35-year-old woman’s car at about 3:10 a.m. Sunday in the Bushwick section and accompanied her to her apartment. The woman called 911 at 4:49 a.m. to report that they had sexually abused her there, police said.

Two on-duty city cops were charged with sexually abusing a Brooklyn driver early yesterday, after pulling up next to her and escorting her home, police officials said.

JOLIET — Prosecutors granted a plea bargain ensuring an assistant attorney general's son charged with repeatedly raping a female relative would leave court a free man without a sex crime on his record.

But an appalled judge rejected the agreement.

"I am not accepting this plea. This is a travesty," Judge Robert Livas said of the plea bargain to drop predatory criminal sexual assault charges down to misdemeanor battery for 19-year-old Benyam Bereket-Ab.

A Ramsey County corrections officer, who is accused in New Hampshire of trying to solicit a boy for sex, was charged Wednesday with disseminating and having child pornography on his home computer.

Marlon Brose, 39, of Eagan flew to Boston and then drove to New Hampshire expecting to have sex with a person he thought was a 14-year-old boy but who turned out to be an undercover officer, according to detective James McLaughlin of the Police Department in Keene, N.H.

PORT ANGELES -- Three independent investigations into alleged misconduct at the Clallam County Sheriff's Department have resulted in a deputy being fired, a sergeant resigning and the remaining captain being reprimanded.

In addition, a day before the investigative reports were released, Undersheriff Steve Snover retired abruptly after only six months in the post.

And the sheriff's personal administrative assistant has been placed on leave pending an ongoing investigation.

A South Milwaukee police officer was charged Monday with repeatedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl as she slept and taking photographs of the attacks.

Bail was set at $250,000 for Todd W. Berggren, 42, of Oak Creek, who was being held in the Milwaukee County Jail Monday night.

A criminal complaint, obtained by WTMJ-TV (Channel 4), charges Berggren with 19 counts, including first-degree sexual assault of a child, sexual assault of an unconscious victim, sexual exploitation of a child and possession of child pornography.

Port Washington - Grafton Village Trustee Frank L. Knetter, 38, was charged Monday in Ozaukee County Circuit Court with fourth-degree sexual assault, a misdemeanor, on suspicion of groping a boy, 14, during a pickup basketball game.

According to a criminal complaint, Knetter was watching five boys playing basketball about 5:30 p.m. Nov. 4.

The game was being played at Third Avenue Park in Grafton, said Lt. David Guss of the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Department.

A Milwaukee Fire Department lieutenant is under investigation for allegedly performing a lewd act in front of a computer camera while on duty and broadcasting the image on an adult Web site, sources familiar with the investigation said.

The incident was reported by a female firefighter who said she saw the lieutenant engaged in the lewd act.

Fire Chief William Wentlandt confirmed there is an internal investigation into possible misconduct by a department employee. He said the investigation is in its early stages and declined to give other details.

WOODBURY, Conn. -- Police have arrested a fellow officer after investigators said they found illicit pictures of children on his personal computer, NBC 30 Connecticut News reported.

State police arrested Woodbury police officer Terrence Langin, charging him with possessing child pornography in the first degree. Langin has been on leave with pay from his job for about a week, ever since a first selectman received word from state police about the ongoing criminal investigation.

Langin is being held on $350,000 bond and is due in court on Thursday.

A former Austin police detective who admitted to collecting and e-mailing hundreds of digital images of children engaged in sex acts with one another and with adults was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison Friday.

Lance McConnell, 34, who had been free on bail, cried before he was taken into custody by U.S. marshals. Under the federal system — in which there is no parole but there is a chance to get credit for good behavior — McConnell will serve a minimum of 8 1/2 years in prison.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons plans to send him outside of Texas to do his time "for his own protection," a probation officer told the court. Prison officials generally consider former police officers and those who commit crimes against children to have a high risk of being assaulted by other inmates.

WAYNESVILLE – A police officer charged with felony indecent liberties with a child pleaded guilty Wednesday to a lesser offense and will not serve time in prison.

A judge gave Thomas Edward Chandler, 46, of 64 Middle Ridge, a suspended jail sentence, unsupervised probation and prohibited him from serving as a law enforcement officer after he pleaded guilty to two counts of misdemeanor assault on a female.

The N.C. State Bureau of Investigation found Chandler touched a teenaged member of the Waynesville Police Department’s Explorers program twice. A Grand Jury indicted him in September.

An Orange County, California Superior Court judge pleaded guilty on Tuesday to four felony charges of possession of child pornography. He admitted that he had at least 100 images of minor boys engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Judge Ronald Kline, a 65-year-old resident of Irvine, pleaded guilty in Los Angeles before United States District Judge Consuelo B. Marshall. Pleading guilty to four of seven counts contained in a grand jury indictment, Kline admitted that the images of child pornography were on his home computer, two computer floppy disks and one Zip drive disk.

Kline was initially indicted by a federal grand jury in November 2001 after law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at his home and discovered the child pornography. The investigation started after the Irvine Police Department received information that Kline kept a diary on his computer that chronicled his sexual interest in young boys. A joint investigation was then conducted by Irvine police and agents with the United States Customs Service, who are now part of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

SAN FRANCISCO, California (AP) -- A federal appeals court has revived child porn charges against a former California judge, ruling that hundreds of images of naked children from his computers can be used at trial.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco said Monday the government can present evidence taken from former Orange County Superior Court Judge Ronald Kline's computers that a federal judge had ruled were illegally obtained by the Irvine Police Department.

Thom Mrozek, a spokesman for federal prosecutors in Los Angeles, where the case is being tried, said a trial date has been set for January 18.

JOHNSTON CITY - The Johnston City Fire Department is less than one block from the city's business district. From all outward signs, the daily operation inside the red metal building appears like any other in Southern Illinois.

Churning under that seemingly peaceful current, however, is a simmering controversy that has seen one longtime firefighter convicted of two counts of sexually abusing a minor, the city billed for an underage Internet pornography site and allegations by a working fireman and a former and current city alderman that city officials did little or nothing to correct the situation.

Last month Johnston City fireman Davis N. "Skip" Mallory, 61, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse that involved the sexual penetration of a 16-year-old girl. Mallory. He is facing three to seven years in prison on each charge, and is scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday, Dec. 21.

FREEHOLD — John A. Tobia Jr., 68, of Long Branch, faces a four-year prison sentence in exchange for pleading guilty to second-degree child endangerment Monday. The charge will be treated as a third-degree of�fense at his March 31 sentencing.

In addition, Tobia must also register as a sex offender under Megan's Law and have no victim contact, according to the agreement.

It began innocently enough. A corrections officer slipped soda pop to female prisoners.

Small favors led to flirting. At the Marion County Correctional Facility, inmates nicknamed him "Officer Sweetheart."

When kindness morphed into sexual misconduct, Curtis Kotter destroyed his career and wound up imprisoned himself. The former jailer became a jail inmate -- spending 53 days in custody for official misconduct -- after he had two female prisoners perform oral sex on him.

No jail time is included in a plea deal made with prosecutors by a former San Diego police sergeant from Murrieta who was charged in April with sexually abusing two teenage girls.

Toby Peale Freestone, 41, pleaded guilty Monday during a hearing at the Southwest Justice Center to four charges, including two counts of having sexual contact with a minor.

He was sentenced to a year of house arrest and four years of formal probation.

"This is not a prison case," Kelly Hansen, supervising deputy district attorney, said. "If this were your average Joe, this would not be a prison case. We are not going to punish someone more severely because he is a police officer."

We must take exception to one portion of your Dec. 7 editorial regarding Senate Bill 89 ("Outlawing officer-inmate sex was long overdue"). You indirectly chastised us by saying "... the state's largest prison union didn't see the need for a law until the past session ...", implying that we were somehow asleep at the wheel on this issue.

Nothing could be further from the truth. For the record, we are the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, and yes, we are by far the largest union in Oregon representing state corrections employees. And we have had a consistent record throughout the years of advocating strict and harsh penalties for any corrections employees who cross the line and become involved sexually with inmates.

FREEHOLD — A former Long Branch police officer and Monmouth County employee admitted Monday to endangering the welfare of a child, which involved inappropriate touching.

John A. Tobia Jr., 68, of Long Branch, faces a four-year prison sentence in exchange for pleading guilty to second-degree child endangerment Monday. The charge will be treated as a third-degree offense at his March 31 sentencing.

In addition, Tobia must register as a sex offender under Megan's Law and have no contact with the victim, according to the agreement.

SAN DIEGO -- A former San Diego police sergeant will spend one year of house arrest for having sex with two 16-year-old girls, 10News reported.

Toby Peale Freestone, 40, was sentenced after pleading guilty Monday to statutory rape.

MARION - Williamson County State's Attorney Charles Garnati said he found a judge's decision not to order jail time for a convicted sex offender "hard to stomach."

Williamson County Judge Ronald R. Eckiss declined to mandate prison time for Davis N. "Skip" Mallory, a former Johnston City firefighter who pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual abuse. Eckiss instead handed down 48 months probation in an emotionally charged hearing Wednesday.

Mallory, 61, of Johnston City, entered an open plea of guilty to charges accusing him of sexually abusing a 16-year-old Johnston City girl. The charges of abuse, which occurred in March and April of this year, each carried a potential fine of three to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

In addition to his four years probation, Mallory must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. He is required to undergo AIDS testing and submit his DNA to the Illinois State Police for profiling.

A state trooper who secretly filmed people around town having sex in public was given a one-day suspension last year and is still patrolling the state Capitol for the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Sgt. Gregory R. Badacour, 35, filmed people "for the thrill of the hunt," according to a Metro police report.

He pleaded guilty to one charge of illegally filming and is on probation, but his Metro police file says he filmed at least nine other couples and admitted to clicking on child pornography on a computer.

Punishment by the THP: A one-day suspension.
Superior's observation in 2004 evaluation: "Officer Badacour rarely writes citations but does do an exceptional job when required." He also received the highest marks for "maintaining personal conduct" during his most recent evaluation, as well as high marks in most other areas.

Officer Tracey Giles turned himself into police around eight this morning. He's charged with aggravated sodomy and violating his oath of office.

Investigators say it happened on October 30th in a Columbus neighborhood off Buena Vista Road.

This is a case where DNA played an important role. The alleged sex crime occurred nearly two months ago.

Police tell News Leader Nine DNA samples collected at the scene matched that of officer Giles. "We got a call from the victim of the burglary that told us that she was then the victim of a sexual offense that had been perpetrated on her by the officer," says Police Chief Rick Boren.

Q. Have you been looking at child pornography on your computer?

A. I have seen some stuff off of the Internet.

Q. What kind of stuff have you seen?

A. Stuff off of like WinMX. But I don't, if I see anything like that I will look at it and then just delete it right back out of the computer.

Q. You don't have catalogue images of child pornography?

A. No.

Q. Have you ever searched or done a search for child pornography on the Internet?

A. Like I said. I have seen it on WinMX (a peer-to-peer file-sharing network).

A Delaware police officer was suspended after being slapped with sexual misconduct charges.

Authorities said New Castle County Officer Richard Trala molested a 36-year-old Newark woman while on duty.

A Wise County Sheriff’s deputy was arrested Wednesday for improperly touching a female inmate.

James Wesley Harrison, 45, of Alvord was fired the same day after investigators at the sheriff’s office, along with Texas Ranger Dewayne Dockery, found evidence of misconduct. Harrison was charged with violating the civil rights of a person in custody/improper sexual activity with a person in custody – a state jail felony.

Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Kay Swaim set a bond of $10,000. Wise County Sheriff David Walker said he requested a personal recognizance bond, and Harrison remains out of jail.

ALEXANDRIA - A Bunkie police officer arrested earlier this month on charges he allegedly took a teenage girl to Georgia has been dismissed by the department, Bunkie Police Chief Mary Fanara said.

The Town Council has voted unanimously to approve a recommendation made by Fanara that Frederick O. Armstead, 42, be dismissed.

Armstead, a nine-year veteran of the force and a captain, was arrested by the FBI on Dec. 2 when he was discovered with the girl at Warner Robins Air Force Base in Macon, Ga.

A Georgia grand jury later indicted Armstead on a charge of sexual abuse of a minor, which carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison, a $250,000 fine or both.

(Columbia-AP) - December 17, 2005 - A Columbia police officer accused of rape is out of jail on bond. Officer Robby James is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

SLED says he faced a judge Saturday morning and was released on a personal recognizance bond.

Law enforcement records show that James was arrested early Friday for sexually assaulting a female. His arrest warrant says the 22-year-old victim identified the 28-year-old officer from a photo array. It also says medical evidence "was consistent with non-consensual sexual intercourse."

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- A rookie police officer is facing a serious charge that involves a young girl.

Investigators suspect the Birmingham police officer is responsible for shooting a nude video of a girl who happens to be his relative.

A few weeks ago, someone turned in to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office a videotape of the girl taking a shower .

A Lower Mainland RCMP officer and a second man have been charged with sexual assault in connection with an alleged incident earlier this year.

The RCMP say charges against Const. James Douglas Macleod, and Kenneth Allan Knuttila were laid in Port Coquitlam provincial court last Wednesday.

A police officer reduced a woman's pending drunken driving charge in exchange for sexual contact, police said.

Ryan Joseph Quahliero, 25, of Shenango Township, Lawrence County, was charged yesterday with indecent assault and official oppression. He had been with the Koppel police department in Beaver County but resigned shortly after the incident, citing personal reasons.

He stopped the woman for suspected drunken driving on Aug. 14, police said.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) - A state trooper was ordered held without bail on felony charges he had sex with two 14-year-old girls before he joined the police agency, authorities said.

Juan Carlos Zaragoza, 25, was arrested Thursday by Newport News detectives in Fredericksburg, where he lives. He was off-duty.

Zaragoza was charged with three counts of illegal carnal knowledge. If convicted, he faces up to 30 years in prison.
