I understand that many people here were sexually abused and some falsely accused of rape. Fortunatly I did not have such experiences.
Unfortunatly, at 34 my dream of becoming a lawyer went down the drain. But I still like justice statistics. I have made some amazing discoveries in that area -- like the fact that data presented by Bureau of Justice Statistics does not match state data by about 10%.
Here I have many more questions then answers about sex cases.
1) Out of all sex convictions, what percentage are
i) Pedophilia cases?
ii) Date rape cases?
iii) Nonromantic acquaintance rape cases?
iv) Stranger rape cases?
What were these percentages 10 years ago?
2) According to BJS, 90% of sex offenders are convicted by guilty
plea. Does it mean that few of those convicted (but many
convicted by juries are innocent? I mean very few innocent
people would plea bargin to get a prison sentence.
3) Where can I get a "snapshot" of cases in an AVERAGE court. Not
publicised extraordinary cases but a snapshot of an average year
in an average court?

I know as far as children go the NCMEC estimates there are around 200-300 stranger abduction molestation cases each year. 90% of children are molested in the home by a family member or close personal friend. (In other words "stranger danger" is alot of hype).

I'd guess at least some of them plead out of fear. Prosecutors normally over-charge people then negotiate down from there. I've heard in group people say they were convicted on a couple charges but one or two weren't true but they plead to them all because they were threatend with 500 years in jail or something. Look at the Draconian sentencing laws.

You can try going to your local government page or state police. They have their crime report on line every year.

I have found the states of Colorado, Minnesota and Florida to have the most detailed statistics and information on crimes, particularly sex crimes.
The California court system also has great information on arrests, pleas, convictions, etc. Ditto the Florida Supreme Court, which puts out an annual count of offenses and case dispositions.
There are some others, but these are a start. All are available online.
